Will my primary care physician, optometrist or ophthalmologist (whoever recommended you to Dr. Gross) send you my chart?
You must personally request that all pertinent information be forwarded to Dr. Gross. Federal regulations require you to sign a release in order for medical records to be shared. Please contact your doctor’s office directly and ask them to provide Dr. Gross with all the necessary information.
If I’ve had a CT or MRI scan or other procedure performed how can I let Dr. Gross know the results?
You should arrange to pick up the actual films of any procedure and bring them with you to your appointment with Dr. Gross. Please keep in mind, it may take a few days for the hospital or laboratory to get the films ready for you.
Will I have my pupils dilated during my visit?
Depending on your particular eye problem, your pupils may be dilated. If they are dilated, you will need to bring sunglasses and arrange for someone to drive you home from your appointment as your vision will be affected for about 4 hours. Children require stronger dilating drops which can produce papillary dilation for up to 48 hours.
What else should I bring to my appointment?
You should bring a complete list of any medications you are taking, including the name and dosage of prescription and over-the-counter medications.
How can I prepare my child for an appointment with Dr. Gross?
Be honest with your child about the visit. No shots or blood drawing will take place at our office and this information can be comforting. Read a children’s book on going to the doctor’s office (your local librarian can recommend some). Giving your child as much information as possible will help him/her feel more in control and more comfortable.
Should I avoid any medication or food/drink prior to my appointment with Dr. Gross?
If you are having a procedure such as an eyelid operation, you should avoid food for 4-6 hours if possible. Otherwise, no special restrictions apply.
